Our Treatment Approaches

Islamically Integrated Psychotherapy (IIP)

Islamically Integrated Psychotherapy (IIP) caters to the belief systems of Muslim clients by integrating Islam into modern psychotherapy. It serves their cultural and faith-sensitives to help them with their spiritual and emotional struggles. It helps Muslim clients navigate Islamophobia and challenges related to family, identity, and spirituality.

Spiritually Integrated Psychotherapy (SIP)

People can draw from psychological, faith-based, and spiritual perspectives to create and sustain a meaningful purpose in life. There is also space to examine spiritual disconnection and isolation to make meaning out of difficult life events. By facilitating a spiritual meaning making process, a therapist helps those suffering from chronic spiritual and emotional distress. A client may choose to use art, poetry, ritual, prayer, meditation, and mindfulness to express their spiritual emotions.

Spiritually Integrated Psychotherapy draws on the resources of a variety of traditions, depending on the needs of the client. The coping methods learned have been linked to create a greater resilience and well-being.

EMDR

Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing Therapy is a psychotherapy that enables people to heal from the symptoms and emotional distress that are the result of disturbing life experiences. It is the most effective therapy for Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. The past wounds transform on an emotional level and the clients feel empowered by the very experiences that once weakened them. During EMDR therapy, the client attends to emotionally disturbing material in brief sequential doses while simultaneously focusing on an external stimulus, most commonly the therapist directed lateral eye movement.

Somatic Experiencing

It is a body-oriented therapeutic model designed for healing trauma and other stress disorders. This is approached by gently guiding clients to increase their tolerance for difficult bodily sensations and suppressed emotions.

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy is a unique empirically based psychological intervention that uses acceptance and mindfulness strategies, together with commitment and behavior change strategies, to increase psychological flexibility.

Cognitive Behaviour Therapy

Cognitive Behaviour Therapy is a structured, time-limited, problem-focused, and goal-oriented form of psychotherapy. CBT helps people learn to identify, question, and change how their thoughts, attitudes and beliefs relate to the emotional and behavioral reactions that cause them difficulty.

Dialectical Behaviour Therapy

Dialectical Behaviour Therapy is a type of cognitive behavioral therapy. Its main goals are to teach people how to live in the moment, develop healthy ways to cope with stress, regulate their emotions, and improve their relationships with others.

Person-Centered Therapy

This type of therapy diverged from the traditional model of the therapist as expert and moved instead towards a nondirective, empathic approach that empowers and motivates the client in the therapeutic process. The therapy is based on the idea that every human being strives for and has the capacity to fulfill their own potential.

Narrative Therapy

Narrative Therapy seeks to be a respectful, non-blaming approach to counselling and community work which centers people as the experts in their own lives. It focuses on problem as the problem, not client as the problem. It empowers clients to re-author a strength-based narrative of their story.

Solution–Focused Therapy

Solution–Focused Therapy is a short-term goal focused therapy which empowers clients to make life changes by creating solutions rather than focusing on the problems in life. In SFT, the client is empowered to identify and explore previous “exceptions”, e.g. times when they have successfully coped with or addressed previous hardships in life.
